SUMMARY:  
Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of Transportation personnel. Facilitate training programs. Maintain safety and training records to ensure federal and state compliance. Resolve transportation issues with District personnel, schools, students, parents/guardians, and other stakeholders. Provide route coverage when necessary.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide guidance to, train, and evaluate Transportation employees and crossing guards in safety guidelines. Develop and conduct classroom and on-the-road training for Bus Drivers and Bus Assistants in coordination with the Driver Supervisor. Administer small vehicle operator training programs. [Daily, 35%]
• Enter and maintain District-wide Transportation personnel evaluation files and document training records. Facilitate both written and practical federal and state license examinations, CDL third-party testing, evacuation drills, training courses, and First Aid and CPR classes. Ensure legal compliance related to commercial driver’s licensing requirements and overall Transportation training programs. [Daily, 15%]
• Preserve records for federal and state license/permit programs, CDL testing, compliance reports, and DOT files and logs. Process District-wide motor vehicle report files. Respond to and file reports about vehicle accidents and serve on the Accident Review Committee. [Daily, 15%]
• Act as the primary interface for new candidates including reviewing applications, setting up and conducting interviews, using candidate search software, hiring employees, and working with Human Resources in selecting advertising venues. Attend job fairs inside and outside of the District. [Daily, 10%]
• Plan and coordinate bus stop and route surveys, street safety surveys, and student safety programs, including “Buster the Bus” school bus safety program. Deliver safety programs (busing, walking) at District schools, daycare centers, etc. Assist in researching and analyzing projects and programs that will impact the District. [Weekly, 10%]
• Assist in the development of appropriate responses to stakeholder inquiries as necessary. [Monthly, 5%]
• Assist with implementation of the drug/alcohol testing program and related paperwork. [Monthly, 3%]
• Assist in the development, planning, and coordination of the newsletter and employee safety award programs. [Quarterly, 2%]
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. [Daily, 5%] 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

• High school diploma and specialized classes related to transportation.
• One (1) year of related experience.
• Must meet insurability requirements of the Colorado School District Self-Insurance Pool.
• Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Basic knowledge of handheld two-way radios.
• Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
• Advanced interpersonal relations skills.
• Advanced organizational skills.
• Ability to be flexible with work hours and location.
• Ability to effectively train employees and facilitate training sessions.
• Ability to provide guidance and problem-solving assistance to less experienced employees.
• Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
• Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire. 

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
All certifications, licenses, and registrations must be valid and unexpired.

• Colorado Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with P and S endorsements. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Associate's degree or some college.
• Colorado CDL Third Party Tester license.
• First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor certification.
