D 30% Replace worn parts on all vehicles. D 30% Conduct safety inspections on all vehicles
D 10% Handle preventative maintenance on all vehicles.
D 5% Maintain necessary records for vehicles.
D 5% Test-drive vehicles to verify complaints.
D 5% Implement regularly scheduled maintenance on vehicles.
D 3% Clean tools and shop area.
D 2% Order replacement parts.
M 4% Train new drivers for testing techniques.
M 2% Upgrade skills through testing and training.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING High school diploma or equivalent, plus specialized courses in mechanics. EXPERIENCE Three (3) years on the job experience in light and medium duty trucks, mowing equipment or one (1) year experience plus graduation from an accredited automotive, diesel and/or heavy equipment technical school.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT Basic math, writing and communication skills. Basic knowledge of computers, electrical testing equipment, tools and micrometers and tire changing equipment. Ability to operate scan and diagnostic equipment.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS Valid Colorado Drivers License, ASE Certification in Light and Medium Duty Truck, Diesel Engine, Gas Engine, Air and Hydraulic Brakes, Steering and Suspension, Electrical Systems. Must be able and willing to obtain the following: CDL A/BP2S, First Aid and CPR, Opacity Inspector License, Colorado Department of Education Brake Inspector Certificate.

SUPERVISION/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITY This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Acts a resource for the vocational tech department for student projects, including training, demonstrating, and answering questions. Has the ability to work cooperatively with supervisors and co-workers, Has the ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions, Has the ability to perform responsibilities without necessity of close supervision, Has the ability to meet attendance standards and work the hours necessary to perform the essential functions of the job, Maintain a positive attitude.

JUDGMENT AND DECISION MAKING Work is assigned by lead mechanic. This position requires application of position knowledge to efficiently replace parts for wear and follow safety guidelines. Work as directed by Transportation Supervisor in accordance with Adams School District 14 policies and procedures. Decision making requires collaboration with lead people in other departments and co-workers. Supervisor is involved in decision making.

SAFETY TO SELF AND OTHERS Low exposure to self to chemical and heat burns, fractured bones, hernia, loss of limb, loss of sight, disfigurement and fatality due to operating heavy and dangerous equipment, supplies and vehicles. Medium exposure to self to bruises due to bumping into equipment or vehicles. High exposure to self to cuts due to handling cutting wire and other materials. The physical demands, work environment factors, and mental functions described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

MENTAL FUNCTIONS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to analyze, communicate and evaluate. Frequently required to compare, coordinate and compile. Occasionally required to instruct, compute, synthesize, use interpersonal skills and negotiate.
